With his work in museums and private collections around the world, award-winning Loet Vanderveen is one of the most acclaimed wildlife sculptors today. Born in Holland, his early love of animals developed while living close to the Rotterdam zoo. From the tragic destruction of the wild zoo animals during the World War II occupation of his homeland and his eventual escape to England, Vanderveen determined to pursue his love and passion for depicting wild animals in sculpted form. He studied the artful techniques of Chinese glazing and began applying fine glazes to his sculpted forms. This knowledge eventually led to finishing his bronze animal pieces in breathtaking patinas.

Loet Vanderveen is especially known for freeze-framing the essence of an animal in astounding and realistic detail. His exquisite, velvety patinas of ebony, browns, burgundies, reds, jade greens, and silver grays are carefully selected to grace and enhance each sculpture, making them beautiful to the eye as well as the touch.
