Antelope Dancer

AntelopeRandall Herold’s stunning contemporary handbag designs are clearly influenced by his life-changing apprenticeship on the Navajo (Dineh) Reservation. While there Herold learned traditional moccasin making, silversmithing, weaving and basket making. Today he uses specific materials and techniques that reflect those earlier experiences: vegetable-tanned cowhides, goatskin gussets and trim, as well as beautifully carved elements including antlers, camel bones, buffalo horns, semi-precious stones, hardwoods, beads, silver buckles, and Asian and African artifacts. The unusual and intricate geometry, color, and texture of his designs accentuate the human form and reveal a symbiotic bond with nature and respect for landscape and life.
